Arise School of Dance Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe that the bible, consisting exclusively of the sixty six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired written Word of God and is without error in the original autographs. It is our only authority for faith and practice.

Deuteronomy 8:3; Joshua 1:8; Psalms 119:105; Matthew 7:24-27; Romans 15:4; 1 Timothy 4:13; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

God

We believe in one God, the uncreated Creator of all things. He is an eternal and infinite Spirit without form. He is all powerful, sovereign over the universe. He knows all things and is present everywhere at all times. He is all sufficient, completely good, perfect in holiness, and altogether righteous. He exists eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit as revealed in the bible.

Genesis 1:1,2; Exodus 3:14; Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:4; 2 Chronicles 2:5,6; Psalms 47:7; 90:2; 100:5; 139:4,7-12; 145:4,5; Proverbs 15:3; Isaiah 9:6; Jeremiah 23:23,24; 32:17,27: Matthew 19:16; 28:19; Luke 12:7; John 1:1; 4:24; Ephesians 5:20; 1 Timothy 1:16,17; Hebrews 11:3; James 1:17

Man

Human beings, as God’s special creation, are created in the image of God, not the result of any naturalistic process. As a result of the disobedience of Adam and Eve, all mankind is under the wrath and judgement of God. Due to our sinful state, we do not possess the power in ourselves to make ourselves right with God. Reconciliation with God is accomplished by God alone through faith in the Messiah.

Genesis 1:26; 9:6; 3:17-19; Psalms 51:5; John 3:16; Romans 1:18; 5:12-21;6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10

Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God. He is the Messiah, Lord and Savior of all mankind. He is the King of the jews and Ruler over heaven and earth. In fulfillment of Old Covenant (Testament) expectations, he was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day, visibly and physically. He ascended to the right hand of God the Father. At an unknown time in the future, he will physically return to judge the living and the dead.

Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 52:13; 53:12; Psalms 110:1; Matthew 1:21-23; 2:1-2; 11:4-6; 16:16; 28:1-10,18; 24:36; 25:31-46; Luke 2:11; John 1:29; 3:16; 20:28; Acts 1:11; 5:31; 1 Corinthians 15: 14-17; Philippians 2:9-11; 1 Peter 2:22

The Holy Spirit

We believe that God's Holy Spirit is given as a gift to all true believers in Jesus. Through him we discern spiritual truth, we are enabled to live righteous and holy lives, and are empowered to do the works of the Messiah.

Joel 2:28,29; Acts 2:14-21; Matthew 28: 18-20; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 2:14-16; 12:7

The People of God

On the basis of faith, all true believers in Jesus are members of one universal body, commonly known as “the Church.”

Matthew 16:18,19; Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 16:19; Ephesians 2:13-22

Moral Conduct

While good works, religious or moral, do not make us right with God, all believers in Jesus are expected to live holy lives. This includes personal dedication to the development of an intimate relationship with God through prayer, the study of Scripture, and the fellowship of other believers, as well as striving for the highest standard of biblically based morality in every area of life.

Matthew 5:7; Romans 6:12-14, 12:9-21; Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 1 John 1:8-10; Hebrews 10:24,25
